The Rodiles
It is a fortified enclave that developed between the 3rd and 1st centuries BC. C., representative of the final phase of Celtiberian culture, when the Romans arrived in Celtiberia.
It is located in Cubillejo de la Sierra, on the spur of a large hill, with an approximate area of 5 hectares and due to its position and size it must have played the role of the central nucleus of that region, where there are other smaller forts and through which they pass. the communication routes between the Meseta and the Ebro valley.
Its powerful defensive system is notable, formed by three concentric walls, highlighting the innermost one, which closes the acropolis area.
The wall is built with Cyclopean ashlars and two towers at each end, remaining more than 4 m high in some points. Inside the enclosure, rectangular-shaped homes have been identified, which are organized around several central streets.
Due to its special characteristics and historical interest, it was declared BIC with the category of Archaeological Zone in 2012.
