Our educational project

Geoparks provide exceptional opportunities for the education of children and adults of all ages. Its landscapes provide an exciting outdoor classroom to teach a wide range of skills and develop a better understanding of the environment around us.

Education for sustainable development

The objective is to raise awareness about geological heritage and its links with other aspects of natural, cultural and intangible heritage. In this framework, training on environmental care is linked to the different education projects for primary and secondary schools and university students in the territory and also with other training and awareness activities for social agents, specific groups and the general population.

Although we cannot forget that knowledge of the geological, natural and cultural heritage of the Molina Region in the school environment contributes to raising awareness for its conservation for the Grouped Rural Centers, Early Childhood and Primary Education Centers and Secondary Education Institute and it is of a priority objective for the Molina-Alto Tajo Region UNESCO World Geopark.

Geoschool

Our project consists of improving knowledge of the geological, natural and cultural heritage of the Geopark territory in the school environment, contributing to the awareness, appreciation and conservation of its environment in the Grouped Rural Centers, Early Childhood and Primary Education Centers and Teaching Institute Mandatory, through a programming of various activities and teaching units with practical and experimental methodology adapted to the educational curricula of the different levels, equipped with teaching material.

Additionally, the geopark's landscapes provide an excellent setting for outdoor classes to teach a wide range of skills, develop an understanding of the natural environment and important concepts in environmental science and other subjects.
Support for educational centers, one of the priority lines of work of the Geopark, is materialized through the Geoschool.

Young Ambassadors

The “Young Ambassadors of the Geopark” project is an educational experience aimed at young people who are studying Compulsory Secondary Education and 1st Baccalaureate, proposed with the essential purpose that the students of the IES Doña Blanca de Molina and, by extension, all the inhabitants of the area , improve knowledge of the region and its cultural, geological, historical and social heritage.
The collaboration between the Doña Blanca de Molina IES and the Molina Alto Tajo UNESCO World Geopark aims to achieve the following objectives:

Increase students' knowledge about their environment.
Introduce students to some of the basic principles of geology that has shaped its most emblematic landscapes.
Promote values and good practices for the conservation and protection of the natural and cultural resources of the Geopark.
Strengthen the feeling of belonging and identity of the students.
Increase students' abilities to work as a team, develop their creativity and solve problems.
Train Geopark ambassadors who disseminate the values of their territory.
