“El Mirón” Paleontological Museum
The voyeur, a look 200 million years ago
The Miran of Maranchon
The building of the old forge, rehabilitated by the City Council, houses this incredible Paleontological Museum which collects a sample of the marine fauna that flooded this area during the Jurassic, 200 million years ago.
The Museum, municipally owned, has received the name of the hill where an important part of the various fossil specimens is found (ammonites, belemnites, bivalves, etc.) from the private collection of some residents of Maranchón, Gerardo Lacasa and Begoña Oter.
The exhibition is made up of more than 1,300 fossils and is complemented with a generic sample of other geological periods and explanatory panels that explain, in a simple and didactic way, the evolution of life on Earth.
It is located in the urban area of Maranchon, .
