Working in Network

The Global Geoparks Network (GGN) is the international association of UNESCO Global Geoparks and their professionals committed to the conservation, management and communication of the Earth's heritage to society. It was founded in 2004 as an international association under the auspices of UNESCO to develop best practices and establish quality standards for territories committed to the preservation of the Earth's geological heritage and sustainable development. The GGN promotes continental networking and regional cooperation among network members in areas such as education, management, tourism and sustainable development.

The European Geoparks Network (EGN) is a continental network of the World Geoparks Network, which encourages the formation of networks to exchange experiences and advise new geoparks. The EGN coordinates activities in Europe and its members meet twice a year in the Coordination Commissions and in the European Geoparks Conference. The EGN was founded in 2000 and its original members were the Haute-Provence Geological Reserve, the Petrified Forest of Lesbos, the Gerolstein/Vulkaneifel Geological Park and the Maestrazgo Cultural Park, which were the seed of the current GGN.

The Spanish Geoparks Forum is an organization whose main functions are to promote and disseminate the activity of the Spanish members of the GGN, participate in scientific, tourist, educational or sustainable development dissemination meetings, coordinate common initiatives between the Spanish UNESCO world geoparks , act as interlocutor of the Spanish Geoparks before those responsible for the GGN and its regional network, collaborate with the Spanish National Committee of UNESCO World Geoparks in everything that is required and organize the annual Open Days for the exhibition and discussion of the progress and results from each of the geoparks.
